Description

Blackman Taekwondo/Martial Arts Academy, with over 500 students, is the finest school in the Albuquerque area, dedicated to making your Martial Arts experience enjoyable and satisfying. Our instructors are the best! They have studied and trained for years to qualify as part of the Blackman Taekwondo/Martial Arts Academy Team, and their primary goal is to assist you in being the best you can be. Our carefully structured programs go far beyond punching, blocking and kicking.

After one visit to our 8,100 square foot, State-of-the Art training center, you will know why many are saying that this is the most inviting and comfortable Martial Arts atmosphere in Albuquerque. Our “Zebra” matted floor ensures a safe training environment and our professional janitorial service maintains a sanitary and healthy environment. Our reception area provides ample seating and viewing for all, while our classes work out uninterrupted by a floor to ceiling glass partition. We offer separate locker room facilities, featuring personal lockers and steam showers with overhead rain showerheads.

Master Phillip Blackman
Phillip Blackman was born, raised, and schooled in Los Angeles. Upon his graduation from high school, his passion for baseball took him south to the University of San Diego. While attending school and playing college baseball, Master Blackman became interested in Martial Arts through a local fitness center and took up kickboxing. Master Blackman's training came to a halt when his instructor was injured doing a demo for the television show, "That's Incredible!" Master Blackman moved back to L.A. to attend U.C.L.A. While studying at U.C.L.A., Master Blackman was still seeking to continue his Martial Arts training. In his search for a school, he came across Jun Chong TaeKwonDo Studios. Under Grandmaster Jun Chong, Master Blackman trained with Master Instructors Phillip and Simon Rhee, Daniel Dvorsky, Greg Williams and Peter Malota. Upon finishing U.C.L.A., Master Blackman pursued a career as a wholesale food broker in the meat packing industry.
